Black Swan Film Poster
Black Swan Film Poster
The main image of this poster is of the main character,
of the attention from the audience.
The focus on her eye contact looking forwards will also entice a bigger audience as they will be dragged in by the look of mysteriousness of her eyes.
I think that the crack on her face represents the genre of the film, this is because her face is presented very symmetrical and her make up is edited perfectly. Therefore this huge crack that stands out shows her life isn't perfect like her appearance.
The dark background of the film poster is black and adds to the spookiness of the main characters eyes. Although with the dark background the main attraction of this poster is the girls face and eyes.
The film titles are in a gold coloured font and are faded out towards the bottom of the film poster, this is because most audiences aren't too bothered about the film credits. However the actors that star in the film 'Black swan', names are displayed just a little further down than mid way of the poster. These are spread into three names, all in black font. Under this is the title of the film, the masthead. This is in black bold writing. This bold black font also is a contrast to the pale skinned background and would stand out to the audience.
To the left of the poster a film magazine company 'Empire' has quoted the film performance, this connotes to the audience that a global film magazine company has given the film 'Black Swan' a good review. This review will attract the audience to see if they can relate to review.
The first thing that attracts an audience to this poster is the outside boarder of what looks like a train window. This is a bold abstracted boarder and sets the scene of the film without looking at the title of the film. The train window has a women's pale face starting to appear to the right hand side of the poster. This is presented as the main character of the film and she looks as though she is looking very seriously at what is on the outside of the train window. The poster has been edited a little bit to show you that she is looking at a house in the reflection in the window, this will make the audience want to watch the film to see what this house means to her.
The masthead of the film looks as though its in a moving motion of the direction of what the train is travelling. This will indicate to the audience that the film is based mainly on a train, especially when the masthead is 'The girl on the train'. Under the masthead a short tag line saying ' based on the novel that shocked the world' describes the film as shocking the world, this could attract a bigger audience as they would want to see how shocking this film is.
Likewise at the bottom of the film poster just above the film credits it says 'What did she see?' this is used in contrast to the image on the poster of her looking out of the train window at something, the audience will want to know what she is looking at?
At the bottom of the poster under the credits the cinema release date is in bold, blue writing and is spaced out clearly. This has been positioned at the bottom of the poster because it will be the last thing that the audience will see after looking at eh other details on the poster. It is important for film posters to have the cinema/DVD release date on the poster advertising their films because the audience will want to know when they can watch the films that are being advertised.
The first thing the audiences eyes will be drawn to will be the eye catching tag line 'There's something wrong with Esther'. This tag line will make the audience want to watch the film Orphan and find out what is wrong with Esther. The font of the tag line is bold and big and stands out from the back ground. The tag line is also short and to the point, this is common on most film posters.
This film poster is very simple and straight to the point in the sense that the main character takes up more than half of the space of the film poster. She has a very mysterious look to her and has lots of black shadows on and around her face. She also has blacked out eyes that are looking straight into the audiences eyes, this will also create a mysterious sense to the film. The main character will also draw attention to what she is wearing, she is in a patterned dress that looks like a school dress and has a red velvet choker around her pale neck and the look is finished off with two bunches in her hair that are tied up with blue ribbon. Everything is in place, nothing is out of place. This represents the weirdness of the main character and how she could be an Orphan.
The title of the film is in a font that looks as though a child (an orphan) has written the word 'Orphan' with a white pen, it stands out on the poster because everything is neat and in its place and this writing is in contrast to the rest of the poster.
