Watch film trailers - Orpahn

Watching and analysing Psychological thriller film trailers

Here I created a mood board of different shots from the trailer Orphan, the trailer includes the following:
  •  The trailer starts off with cheerful music and sets the scene of an orphanage were there are lots of children waiting to be adopted
  • The little girl that the parents are introduced to tells the audience her name 'Ester'
  • The dialog continues between the parents and the little girl, the mum asks why she wasn't at the part and Ester replies saying "I never really see the point of it, I guess I'm different"
  • We are then shown the parents driving Ester home with them and saying "this is your home too" suggesting to the audience the parents have adopted her
  • Tow other young characters are introduced when they're inside the house these characters are called Danni and Max
  • Another setting in introduced, Ester begins school and is picked on for what she is wearing
  • As the girls finish there nasty joke towards Ester, the music begins to deepen and turn into more of a siren noise
  • Fast past shots then turn to Ester in a toilet cubical kicking the walls and letting her frustration out from the nasty joke that was made to her
  • As Ester is becoming more angry in the toilet, different shots from the film are shown the first being, the mum trying to get into Esters room but she's has locked the door
  • It then flashes back to her kicking the toilet again and then shows the parents and a professional sat in a room talking about Ester and the professional says " something g is happening to cause Ester to feel this way", this tells the audience that the parents are concerned about Ester and that something g isn't quite right about her
  • The music then cuts to a silence and a close up of Esters face screaming is shown along with loud diegetic screaming from Ester
  • This then fades to black and the music is cut
  • The screen then comes up with " There's something wrong with Ester" and a worried lady's voice repeats what is displayed on the screen
  • A black cut is put in before a close up shot of a chained swing is rotating round and round
  • Creaky music is added to this swing action
  • Another still fade to black is used and the same ladies voice says " We need to know what we're dealing with"
  • It then cuts back to mid shot of the swing chains moving back and forth along with the same creaky noise as before
  • Another still fade to black appears on the screen and the women's voice says "Trouble does have a way of finding her"
  • It then cuts quickly to a close up shot of Ester face looking very serious and determined as she is sat on the swing
  • A fast past cut to black comes in as the mums concerned voice says "What kind of trouble?"
  • Dramatic music cuts in as several different angled shots, low angle, high angles and a birds eye view are shown of a little girl falling from the slide at the park
  • It then cuts to black
  • And quickly cuts to Ester standing at the top of slide where the little girl has just fallen from
  • This then cuts to a white background and the words " You'll never guess her secret" comes up on the screen
  • It then cuts to the mum on the phone in a birds eye view to a Russian doctor who is talking about Ester
