How Effective is the Combination of Your Main Product and Ancillary Texts?

Evaluation 2:

How effective is the combination of my Main and Ancillary products?

For this task I have produced a voiceover that will play over the top of my final film trailer, my trailer will also include the final images of my film poster and magazine cover. I have explained the effectiveness of my overall campaign, and how I have used synergy to combine my three products.

I wanted to include as many stereotypical conventions of the psychological thriller genre, as well as the typical conventions of the media product itself. I did this by using synergistic elements throughout my three products, as I found this helped to promote my film, as audiences instantly recognised elements such as the font and main character, and link them to the film.

I used certain conventions in each of my three texts to place them in the psychological thriller genre, as this would attract the young adult target audience of my film. Young adults, between 15 and 24 would be most likely to interest as they enjoy following complex storylines, and watching exciting films.

On my film poster I decided to forefront the main character, and then have a faded out image of the same character displayed behind him. My composition was inspired by the Psycho Shift poster, as this is a thriller film with a similar plot, and aimed at a young audience. I used Photoshop to create my film poster; I faded out the image of the main character, as this is suggestive of the plot, in which most psycho characters have two personalities. The film would revolve around the lead up to a school shooting, explaining why I have foregrounded him in my poster, with a long-shot presenting his power and dominance through his body language.
